Description:
MasterPlan has been privileged to guide the redevelopment of the Adelaide Oval and the Oval Hotel. MasterPlan was instrumental in obtaining Planning Consent for both projects and continues to advise and assist the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority (AOSMA) on planning related matters.
The Oval redevelopment, completed in 2014, created a world class stadium with a seating capacity of 50,000 enabling the hosting of higher order events, cricket matches and AFL games.
The redevelopment also forms an integral part of the regeneration of the River Torrens Riverbank Precinct, a focal point for entertainment and sport in South Australia. The design of both the Oval Redevelopment and the Oval Hotel has been underpinned by a commitment to surrounding parkland and heritage providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience for patrons in this prominent setting within the Riverbank precinct.
The redevelopment and our ongoing assistance to AOSMA has resulted in:
- Replacement of southern and eastern stands with new grandstands seating 50,000 people;
- Improved player facilities including indoor cricket and football training facilities;
- New entrances and plazas;
- New replay screens and spectator enhancements;
- Retention of the historic scoreboard, Moreton Bay fig trees and view of the cathedral;
- Completion of the Oval Hotel and restaurant in 2020;
- Completion of Sports lighting upgrade in 2023; and
- Improvements to Lindsay Head Terrace Bar completed in 2024.
